Abraham Transue in the Poorhouse? Interesting Possibility!

We came across this interesting possiblity for Abraham Transue. Ancestry.com's Hints function came across two census records that might be matches. The first was the 1860 United States Federal Census



Ancestry.com's record has the following

He is listed with a variety of people who have different surnames. We scrolled back a few pages and came across this image:



It appears that Abraham Transue was living in the Poorhouse in 1860. Then we moved on to the 1870 United States Federal Census.



Once again Ancestry.com's record gives

Scrolling back a page we find out that he is still in the poorhouse, although this time he is listed as an inmate. He was a pauper in 1860. Here's the other page:



What was life like in the poorhouse? How did he have the misfortune to have to move into one? What about his family? Why was he considered a pauper and then an inmate 10 years latter? Was there a difference in the way to poorhouse was run or was it just symantics? This opens up a lot of questions that need to be answered before we can finalize that this is our Abraham Transue (although his age and location make it likely).

Possibility: Sarah Dreisbach 1860 US Census

Sarah Dreisbach is found in a lot of Census records but is not in her own household. It becomes difficult to know if this is really her or someone else. This 1860 US Federal Census is a great example. She is 12 years old and may be living with the Cole family. Who they are and what is their relationship with Sarah is unknown.

Possibility: Conrad ASH 1870 Census

This is a possibility I found through Ancestry.com. I have stored it in My Shoebox on Ancestry because I'm not sure if it is a match or not. Here's the details from the record.

Possiblity: Joshua Haught Civil War Service Records

Following the advice of GenSmarts, I searched the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System for Joshua Haught. I searched with Haught entered in as the last name and Joshua as the first name. There was only one hit which could possibly be a match:

The reason why this is a possibility is that the Haughts lived in West Virginia. It is possible that Joshua enlisted in Ohio.

Possibility: Sarah Ann Remaley (Dreisbach) 1910 Census

I might have found Sarah Ann Remaley on the 1910 Census. I used GenSmarts and searched for her. It searched with "Sarah" as the First Name, "Remaley" as the Last Name and "Pennsylvania" as the State. The second search result is the one that I think might be her. The birth date is about 1846 on this record. I have 1843 as her birth date based on data from her tombstone.
